NákÊ·s (Hello),

SÉ™ncáyaɬ n skÊ·ácɬ (my name is) Laura Medley.  I am an enrolled member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe in Northwest Washington State.  I am honored to join FireKeepers International as an Intertribal and Community Liaison.  It is my joy to join them in their vision of “people living without fear of hard circumstances being fully equipped with knowledge counsel and provision.

My Story

Over the past 40 years, my life work has been advocating for the dignity of human life in one form or another.  As a young mother of twin boys who were diagnosed with cerebral palsy, I became an advocate for the dignity and inclusion of children with disabilities within their communities and schools, while connecting parents with the resources that helped them to care for and advocate for their children.  Later, I worked within the Crisis Pregnancy Centers advocating for the life of the unborn, helping young mothers with the resources they needed to be successful as they chose life for their babies, while also helping to bring healing and restoration to those who suffered from post-abortion trauma.

Now over the past 15 years with many trips to Israel, I have been involved in bridge-building relationships with the Jewish people as a member of a Native American tribe and also myself having Jewish ancestry.  It is with these two groups of people, that I hold within me, that have had a tragic ongoing history of not being given the respect and honor of having the human dignity they deserve.  It is my joy and calling that I have been gifted in life to connect people and organizations that seek to see and advocate for the value of life that the Creator has bestowed upon every person from every tribe, tongue, nation, and life circumstance from the least to the greatest of these.

May it be together with us too,  as the fearless and unifying Chief Sitting Bull said, “Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children, " as we connect and work together for the sanctity of human life for all.

I look forward to seeing how we can work together to make a better future for the 7th generation.
