Spirit of Balak Rising?

Updated: Jul 28, 2019

There is no coincidence that the Torah Parshah for this Shabbat is about Baalam being told to curse Israel in exchange for honor, gold and glory by King Balak of Moab. At the church level, we are seeing a rising trend of many pastors and teachers condemning and cursing Israel. At a governmental level, we see a bill being introduced to boycott Israel by a known anti-semitic enemy of The State of Israel that serves in our Congress.

The irony in all of this is that Balaam ended up saying that YHVH is not a man that He would lie yet there are many who believe that He has turned His back on the people of Israel and His ultimate plan for them. The Creator has NEVER broken His treaty with His people. Even the Apostles addressed these types of pastors and teachers by saying:

2 Peter 2:15 "Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing,"

Jude 11:11 "Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam's error and perished in Korah's rebellion."

Then Yeshua mentioned Baalam in regard to the ones who hold fast to His name yet promote lies against Israel while living a life of unholiness:

Revelation 2:14 "But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality."

Is there any coincidence that this is the Torah parshah during the time that this congressional bill is coming to light? There is nothing new under the sun. Knowing His timing gives us deeper insight into what is happening in the world around us and within the church body. Here Creator is highlighting the answer to this antisemitism with the weekly Torah parshah.

If you want to learn more about His timing, begin by studying His Sabbaths and His Feasts which provides a prophetic outline from beginning to end. In the meantime how we live our lives and what we do in these times of testing is important. Where will you stand when it is time to raise your voice for the sake of righteousness and justice? What does The Creator requires of us?

Micah 6:8 "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does YHVH require of you but to DO justice, to LOVE mercy, And to WALK humbly with your Creator?

Ultimately the moral of the story is that no matter how much people try to curse Israel or her people the perfect will of YHWH will prevail. He has never broken His treaty with them and has now given access for every nation, tribe and tongue to all the covenant promises He made to those who believe in Him and walk according to His ways. He sent His only Son, Chief CornerStone Yeshua to accomplish this and gave His life so that all nations could live and enter into the promises and blessings that Creator gave to the Children of Israel. To love the King of the Jews is to love the people of Israel and the nation of Israel.

Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

When YHWH spoke this promise to Abraham it was just not to him as a person but also to the seed within Abraham that would become a nation. In Hebraic thinking the seed within you is your future children, grandchildren, gr-grandchildren, descendants etc. Some would argue that this was only spoken to Abraham and that it doesn't apply or fit this situation that we are witnessing playing out in the world today. However, we find clarity from the very mouth of Baalam in this week's Parshah when he is speaking about the Nation of Israel over 650 years after YHVH made this promise to Abraham.

Numbers 24:9 "He crouched and lay down like a lion; like a lioness, who can make her rise. The one blessing you will be blessed, and the one cursing you will be cursed.”

Pray for discernment to increase among those who walk this Ancient Path. Time is short and we need to be walking in blessings and not curses in order to accomplish what His perfect will is in our lives. The choice is yours.
