Ticks, horse flies, spiders, bugs, and all sorts of critters would like nothing more than to find an open spot on your body to have a feast and leave you with itching misery for days to come unless you take protective measures. The land you will be on is partially cultivated, meaning we have maintained only select areas for training and gathering purposes.

What is wilderness appropriate?

Good hiking boots or outdoor shoes with ankle protection, not flip-flops or sandals. As the weather cools down, snakes will seek out any available warmth, which brings them out into the open more frequently.
Long socks and pants to protect your ankles and legs from ticks and spiders. Jeans are versatile and durable, but they have limitations when used in outdoor activities such as hiking. The fabric of jeans, typically cotton and denim, is not breathable or flexible, which can cause discomfort during outdoor activities.
A breathable shirt that covers your arms and neckline. Carhaart and Under Armor make good shirts that are durable, breathable, and moisture-wicking as well as 5.11 and Rothco.
A hat to shade your eyes from the sun.
Comfortable garden gloves for gathering wild plants.
