For nearly 20 years, FireKeepers International’s advocacy arm has diligently pursued its mission, reaching far and wide with a clear and impactful purpose. This organization and its leaders, Chief Joseph "AmaHura" RiverWind and Dr. Laralyn RiverWind, have dedicated itself to fostering a results based spirit of philanthropy that resonates deeply with its supporters. When you invest in philanthropy, you want your support to make a real difference in the lives of others. You want it to create lasting change, to foster hope, and to accomplish meaningful work that uplifts communities and individuals alike. The commitment to ensuring that every dollar spent translates into tangible benefits is at the core of FireKeepers International's philosophy.

Since October 7th, our focus has sharpened significantly as we have devoted the past two years to comforting Creator’s people at a grassroots level. This effort has involved not only direct outreach but also providing critical alternatives for addressing the pressing issues of PTSD and trauma that are currently affecting a staggering 3 million Israelis. That is 1/3 of the entire population! The statistics are alarming: only 0.6% of those suffering from PTSD have received the necessary treatment. This highlights a significant gap in mental health support and underscores the urgent need for effective intervention strategies.

Our journey has taken us into the very heart of communities—into homes, synagogues, and various community gatherings both in America and throughout Israel. Through these interactions, we have been able to listen to the stories of individuals, understand their struggles, and offer support that is both compassionate and practical.

This grassroots engagement has allowed us to become a trusted name within the Jewish community and across the broader diaspora. Our efforts have not only provided immediate relief but have also fostered a sense of unity and resilience among those we serve. By building relationships based on trust and understanding, we have created a network of support that empowers individuals to confront their challenges head-on, paving the way for healing and recovery.

Connecting at the Grassroots Level

Our work began with a simple but powerful idea: to be present where people live their daily lives. Listening and offering support. This approach allowed us to build trust and understand the real needs of the Jewish community. It was not about grand speeches or distant politics but about personal connection and shared trauma. It is about remembering what the Jewish people did for Native Americans during the civil rights movement and reciprocating. This is the traditional native way, to never take something without giving something back.

This grassroots engagement created a foundation for deeper advocacy. People began to see FireKeepers International as a reliable partner, someone who stands with them not just in words but in action despite the hate, the name calling, death threats, and even vandalism of our property. This trust opened doors for us to expand our reach and influence.

A Historic Moment in Washington D.C.

In May, we received an invitation that marked a significant milestone. The Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. asked us to attend their event celebrating Israel’s re-birth day to meet Ambassador Leiter. Ambassador Yechiel Leiter has just released his new book, Manufacturing a Modern Blood Libel: Genocide, Starvation, and the Language of Discrimination, and we are pleased to share a digital copy with you.

This was more than a ceremony; it was a bridge-building gathering that brought together Jews, American non-Jewish advocates, and leaders from the Christian community.

The event symbolized the power of unity and shared purpose between people from many backgrounds and upbringing. United by the bounds of a common and sacred purpose. It showed how diverse groups can come together to support Israel and the Jewish people in meaningful ways. This gathering reflected the very essence of our mission: building bridges across communities to create lasting impact.

Speaking of impact, we also attended the one year memorial service of Sarah and Yaron. Embassy staffers who were publicly executed. Sarah was our friend and seeing how many lives she had impacted was incredible. Seeing the parents of both Yaron and Sarah again was bittersweet.

Reaching a Global Audience

Our impact extends far beyond physical meetings. Through advocacy videos and social media, we have reached over one million views worldwide. These videos offer a unique perspective on Israel and the Jewish people—an Indigenous perspective that highlights the story of indigenous people returning home.

We have been affirming Israel’s indigenous identity long before it became a popular topic. This perspective resonates deeply with many, offering a fresh and authentic narrative that challenges common misconceptions. Our content encourages viewers to see Israel and its people in a new light, fostering understanding and support.

This global reach shows how powerful storytelling can be when it is rooted in truth and experience. It also demonstrates the importance of using modern tools to amplify voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Advocacy is not just about raising awareness; it is about creating real change. By focusing on grassroots connections, building bridges between communities, and sharing authentic stories, FireKeepers International helps shape a more informed and supportive environment for Israel and the Jewish people.

Our work reminds us that every act of support counts. Whether it is a conversation in a home, a gathering in a synagogue, or a video shared online, these moments add up to a powerful movement. They create a foundation for peace, understanding, and lasting impact. From now until July 4th, FireKeepers has a matching grant option that will double your contributions for the work that we do. Please considering any amount as we move forward in solidarity.

Moving Forward Together

The journey of FireKeepers International shows that meaningful advocacy requires presence, honesty, and connection. It is about standing with people in their everyday lives and sharing stories that matter. As we continue this work, we invite you to join us in building bridges and creating impact.
